Carlos Condit will wear UFC gold to the Octagon on November 17 for his meeting with Georges St-Pierre at UFC 154.
However, “The Natural Born Killer” will enter as a decided underdog against the reigning UFC 170-pound champion.
GSP, who is coming off surgery to repair his knee, has not fought in over a year. The UFC created an interim title in his absence, which Condit won earlier this year in a match with Nick Diaz.
As a former WEC champion, and winner of each of his last five fights, Condit understands he is going toe-to-toe with one of the best fighters in the world.
“I do feel like an underdog. In most fight, I put myself in that mindset.”
Condit added that he doesn’t feel as though St-Pierre will have any issues dealing with the long layoff, saying, “I don’t see it being that big of a factor. I know Georges’ recovery, from all reports, is that he is better than ever. That’s what I’m expecting.”
Condit is 28-5 in his career, having lost three times by submission and twice by decision. His last defeat came in 2009 to Martin Kampmann. Prior to that, he had not lost since 2006.
