Cung Le: Rich Franklin Is ‘Biggest Fight Of My Career’

Cung Le is a former Strikeforce champion, but not even that mark on his resume would top a victory over Rich Franklin.

Le and Franklin will square off this Saturday in the main event of UFC on Fuel TV: Franklin vs. Le from China.

Coming off a win over Patrick Cote, Le wasn’t even sure he’d be able to compete on the upcoming card. However, his foot has healed enough to allow him to square off with the former UFC champion.

This is the biggest fight of my career. It’d mean so much to me. It would definitely take me to the next level in my career if I beat Rich Franklin. I’m totally feeling the extra pressure, but it’s very exciting and I’m trying not to let it get the best of me.

Le, during a recent appearance on UFC Tonight, confirmed he was only cleared by a doctor several weeks ago. His foot suffered no broken bones, but the deep bone bruise forced him to undergo a blood-leading regiment.

“It’s kind of disgusting,” said Le, of the treatment. “I put it on YouTube and people got grossed out.”

Le lost his UFC debut to Wanderlei Silva. He is also currently featured in the movie The Man with the Iron Fists.
