Former WEC champion Urijah Faber looks to be on track for a return to the Octagon in February.
Ariel Helwani reported during a recent episode of UFC Tonight that “The California Kid” was forced to slow down his training due to the rib injury he suffered during a recent loss to Renan Barao. Faber was unsuccessful in obtaining the interim UFC bantamweight title vs. Barao.
“I spoke to him earlier and he told me he was training for an early comeback in 2013, but his doctor told him he had to cool it on his training,” Helwani reported. “He was told to cool it off for three weeks and that is about where we are now. He is shooting for a February return. The UFC is down with that idea, no opponent locked, but pencil in that date for a return.”
Faber has alternated wins and losses in each of his last four. He is 26-6 in his career, and 2-2 in the UFC.
