Glover Teixeira has plenty of resources to fall back upon as he prepares for Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in 2013.
One of them is a former UFC light heavyweight champion – and past opponent of Jackson’s – in Lyoto Machida.
Teixeira and Jackson are set for Chicago on January 26 at UFC on Fox 6.
“I’ll probably train in California, and I think Machida should be there, yes,” said Teixeira, during a recent interview with Tatame. “I’ll train with him a bit.”
Facing off with Jackson will be a major step up in competition for the Brazilian, as he has toppled Kyle Kingsbury and Fabio Maldonado since entering the UFC.
The expectation is for a tough fight. In the UFC, every guy is good, each has a good quality, so there’s no easy fight. Sometimes you hit a strike and the fight gets easier, but all are difficult. I will prepare for the best Quinton Jackson.
Jackson is coming off two consecutive losses, and will complete his current UFC contract following the scheduled fight. The two were originally set to meet in October, but a training injury knocked Jackson out of the bout.
