Thiago Silva Tests Positive For Marijuana, Given Six-Month Suspension

Thiago Silva, fresh off a victory over Stanislav Nedkov, has tested positive for marijuana metabolites.

Silva, who also failed a post-fight drug test in 2011 for use of fake urine, will be suspended for six months and must enter a drug rehab program.

“Thiago Silva tested positive for marijuana metabolites following his bout at UFC on Fuel TV in Macau,” a statement from the UFC read. “The UFC organization has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents.”

Silva’s submission victory over Nedkov will likely be changed to a no-contest as has been the norm for such incidents.
