Rory MacDonald is still bitter about his lone career MMA loss.
MacDonald, who will meet former UFC champion BJ Penn next month at UFC on Fox 5, hopes to avenge that loss at the hands of Carlos Condit down the road.
Condit, the former interim UFC welterweight champion, scored a TKO victory over MacDonald back at UFC 115.
“I respect (Condit) completely; he’s one of the guys I respect most in the sport,” said MacDonald, during a recent interview with ESPN. “His outlook and his attitude is great. But I feel like I was embarrassed in that fight. I want to prove to myself and the world that I am the better fighter.”
Since falling to Condit, MacDonald (13-1) has reeled off victories over Nate Diaz, Mike Pyle and Che Mills. He will welcome Penn back to the Octagon after “The Prodigy’s” self-imposed retirement last year.
While continuing to train and prepare for Penn, MacDonald made sure to get one last comment out on Condit before finishing the interview:
“I want revenge. Everyone has their own opinion of the fight, but at the end of the day, I lost and was embarrassed. It is what it is.”
