UFC president Dana White would not say for 100-percent certainty that Josh Barnett would enter the ranks of the UFC again.
Barnett has a fight scheduled for January in Strikeforce against Nador Gulemino, with the promotion expected to close up shop after the card.
Barnett (31-6) is a former UFC heavyweight champion who was stripped of the title after testing positive for a banned substance.
“Strikeforce is still – they’ve got a fight coming up, and that whole thing is going on,” White told MMAjunkie.com recently. So, we’ll see what happens. When the smoke clears and the dust settles, we’ll see what happens with the whole thing.”
Most have been predicting the demise of Strikeforce since Zuffa purchased the promotion early last year. Two cards were cancelled over the past few months, further pushing the idea that Strikeforce was ending.
