Anderson Silva Turns Down 8-Fight UFC Contract Extension, Saying He Wants A 10-Fight Deal

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva doesn’t appear to be leaving MMA anytime soon.

During a recent fan chat, UFC president Dana White stated that Silva told the promotion he would not be accepting an eight-fight extension offer.

“(Expletive) that, I want a 10-fight deal,” White said, was Silva’s response.

Silva is currently 37 years old and has competed twice each of the past two years. At that rate, and with the two fights remaining on his deal, he’d be competing until his early-to-mid 40s.

The Brazilian is coming off wins over Stephen Bonnar and Chael Sonnen, and has been rumored for a long-awaited super-fight with Georges St-Pierre. If GSP-Silva fails to come to fruition, there appears to be plenty of contenders waiting to challenge Silva, including possible Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold.
