Sara McMann, a former Olympic wrestling medalist, is making sure the world knows she did not turn down a bout with Ronda Rousey.
McMann took to Twitter recently after UFC president Dana White said several fighters declined a bout with Rousey. White did not say anyone in specific, but McMann was hit with quite a few requests as to her reason for turning it down.
It is hard to turn down a fight… that was never offered #ForTheRecord

McMann’s manager, Monte Cox, confirmed the same during a recent interview with MMAjunkie.com saying, “Our contract says she is still with Strikeforce. We never got that phone call. So, I don’t know where this is all coming from.”
McMann (6-0) and Rousey are both former Olympians, so the hype surrounding such a fight would be incredible. Instead, though, Rousey will face Liz Carmouche in early 2013 in the first-ever female fight for the UFC.
