Georges St-Pierre Vs. Nick Diaz Nearly Complete For UFC 158 In March

A third attempt at putting UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz inside the Octagon together is nearly complete, as MMAFighting.com confirmed with UFC president Dana White that the two are being scheduled for UFC 158.

The card takes place in March from Montreal. Two previous encounters between the fighters were cancelled; first, due to a failure to show for press conferences by Diaz, followed by St-Pierre’s knee injury.

Cesar Gracie, the trainer and manager for Diaz, confirmed a contract has been received for the fight, but that Diaz has not signed it yet.

St-Pierre requested the Diaz match next after making his return and unifying the UFC welterweight titles with a win over Carlos Condit. Diaz is currently serving a suspension that ends in February.

BOOOOOOOOoOOO he’s coming off a loss. Booo.

And GSP should be forced to fight outside of Canada.

UFC is a business and from a marketing viewpoint you gotta go with diaz. He’s just a waaayyyyy bigger name than hendricks (I assume you want gsp to fight hendricks instead of diaz haha).

The UFC is a sports organization. People like you who are willing to rationalize unsportsmanlike decisionmaking in MMA are what makes this sport illegitimate.

UFC may be a business but I don’t find any sense in fighting a contender coming off from a loss and a suspension. I also don’t think Nick Diaz has proven himself against top competition – he came up short against Condit and unlike Rory MacDonald, Diaz didn’t dominate the aging legend(BJ) in the entire fight. Nick to me does not pose the challenge that Johny Hendricks does. GSP has already faced a fighter similar to Nick in BJ Penn, who in his prime has the best boxing in MMA (better than Diaz) and has the best BJJ and TDD in his time – Nick Diaz hasn’t have half of BJ’s TDD and only 3/4 of the latter’s BJJ at the very best! If you argue that Hendricks = Koscheck at least both fighters demolished UFC calibre fighters, Nick has been fighting mid tier fighters in his reign as SF champ!

diaz deserves he title shot and dont forget that he gpts robbed with condit 49-46 for diaz rounds 1+2+3+5

Again i see very few people that noticed that GSP asked for the fight, but instead everybody has to act like wee wee pants and complain that Nick gets a shot.GET OVER IT! The fight is going to happen so fckg chill!

to anyone who thinks it should be in san jose or vegas, give your head a shake, why should they give Diaz any home turf love, he didn’t even deserve this but i do want to see the clown get his ass kicked, so im all for it. I just hope he learns how to operate a pen and sign, but i bet he’ll come up with some excuse why he cant, he’ll say NOT ENOUGH MONEY, then hendricks will get the fight.. and we can all finally see straight up that Diaz is all mouth and no backbone.
