UFC 157 has a main event, and now, the card has a co-main event.
The long-rumored light heavyweight showdown between Dan Henderson and Lyoto Machida was officially announced by the UFC on Thursday.
UFC 157 takes place February 23 from Anaheim, with UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey facing Liz Carmouche in the main event.
Henderson (29-8), a former Strikeforce champion, has not fought since late in 2011 when he defeated Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. A knee injury kept him out of a summer fight with Jon Jones for the UFC title. He is on a four-fight win streak since a decision defeat at the hands of Jake Shields.
Machida (18-3) won his last bout, besting Ryan Bader via second round knockout. He was submitted by Jones in late 2011, and turned down a short notice fight with the champion after Henderson suffered his knee injury and was forced out.
