Hector Lombard: ‘I Would Love To Fight Michael Bisping’

Hector Lombard earned his first UFC victory Friday night, knocking Rousimar Palhares down and out three minutes into the first round of their fight at UFC on FX 6.

Lombard, who returned to Australia for training prior to the fight, ignited the Aussie faithful with his performance.

After suffering a decision loss to Tim Boetsch in his Octagon debut, the former Bellator middleweight champion was more like his former self vs. Palhares. Following the win, Lombard made a call-out for his next opponent.

I would love to fight Michael Bisping. He’s said a lot of things about me lately and I want to settle it in the Octagon.

Bisping is currently set to face Vitor Belfort in January, with a win likely moving him into a future title shot. A loss, however, could leave him staring at a meeting with Lombard.

Lombard is now 32-3-1 in his career, while Palhares falls to 14-5 overall and 7-4 inside the Octagon. Palhares has now lost two straight fights via first round finish.

“A KO was what I wanted, and I got it,” Lombard said. “It means the world to me to fight on the Gold Coast in front of family and friends.”

Lombard also stated on the Fuel TV post-fight show that he would be willing to face Mark Munoz, but Munoz is still recovering from an injury. He added that he is healthy and willing to step in on short notice if needed to face Bisping.
