The UFC is stocking a March return to Montreal with plenty of welterweights, as Johny Hendricks vs. Jake Ellenberger was announced by officials recently.
The two will meet at UFC 158 from the Bell Centre. The card also features UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre vs. Nick Diaz, and a co-main event between 170-pounders Carlos Condit and Rory MacDonald.
Hendricks (14-1) is currently on a five-fight win streak and seemed poised for a title shot, but GSP asked for Diaz first. The UFC obliged, and “Bigg Rigg” will join the card vs. Ellenberger, instead.
Ellenberger (28-6) topped Jay Hieron earlier this year to improve to 7-2 inside the Octagon.
Officials also added a rematch in the middleweight division, pairing Patrick Cote and Alessio Sakara together again.
The two met recently, with the end-result being a DQ win for Cote. Initially, it appeared Sakara had won by TKO, but the ref disqualified him for illegal strikes to the back of the head.
