Nick Diaz isn’t one to turn down fights, so when Georges St-Pierre came calling, it was pretty much a given that Diaz would answer.
The two will meet at UFC 158 in March for the welterweight title in a bout a long time in the making.
GSP and Diaz were set to collide twice before, but issues have gotten in the way. Now, the only thing standing between them squaring off inside the Octagon is a few months and Diaz applying for his fight license after his suspension runs out in February.
“This is the fight I want,” Diaz said. “I want to go out there and beat Georges St-Pierre in Montreal and show that I’m the best welterweight in the world.”
Diaz (26-8) is the former Strikeforce welterweight champion. He vacated the title upon signing with the UFC and had put together an 11-fight win streak before falling to Carlos Condit earlier this year.
