Invicta Fighting Championships will enter the world of online pay-per-view this January, as the all-female promotion plans to feature a card available for a price online.
Previously, all three Invicta events were streamed for free on the website. Invicta FC CEO Shannon Knapp made the announcement during a recent interview with MMA Fight Corner.
As we go into 2013…this next event is going to be pay-per-view. In 2012, we went in and we gave our product away all year long, the shows that we did. We built the brand and now we’re in the process, we’ll start with the first [in 2013] which will be a pay-per-view. We’ll see how that goes. But we’re prepared to use the internet. I mean, the internet has done what it has for us for now.
Invicta FC 4 is set for January 5 from Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. Knapp said the card would feature 13 fights, including a title bout between Carlos Esparza and Claudia Gadelha for the strawweight title.
Shayna Baszler will face Alexis Davis in the co-main event, while Amanda Nunes battles Sarah D’Alelio in a main card fight.
