Former Strikeforce and current UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey was the lone MMA fighter to be included in Sports Illustrated’s list of most memorable sports moments from 2012.
Rousey, who will put her title on the line in February at UFC 157, was picked No. 65 on the list. The article stated, “She’s the biggest rising star in women’s mixed martial arts, if not the sport as a whole.”
Rousey skyrocketed to fame after capturing the title from Miesha Tate earlier this year. She has appeared in countless magazines and on several TV shows. UFC president Dana White has credited Rousey with his interest in female MMA.
The list, which you can view here, includes the likes of LeBron James, Usain Bolt and Gabby Douglas.
Rousey will be making history in February when she faces Liz Carmouche in the first female fight in the UFC.
