Cain Velasquez likely won’t rush his actions as much this time, but the former UFC heavyweight champion wants Junior dos Santos to know one thing.
“I am coming after him,” said Velasquez, during the weigh-in show on Fuel TV.
Velasquez answered dos Santos’ typical weigh-in staredown pose with his own punch to the face, showing off a different Velasquez than the first time.
“If someone puts a fist in my face, I am going to do it right back to him,” Velasquez said. “That is my mentality.”
In late 2011, dos Santos dropped Velasquez with a thunderous strike early in the first round. Just over a minute into the bout, it was all over, with “Cigano” becoming the first man to defeat Velasquez inside the cage.
For Velasquez, he has envisioned nothing but victory this evening, saying, “A knockout, TKO, submission, a five-round grueling fight. Every time with my hand raised,” when asked how he sees the contest going.
