Cain Velasquez Has Interest In A Third Junior Dos Santos Fight

New UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was asked his thoughts on a potential third encounter with Junior dos Santos just minutes after taking “Cigano” out at UFC 155 Saturday night.

“Definitely,” said Velasquez, on the Fuel TV post-fight show. “That was a tough fight.”

Velasquez avenged the lone loss of his career by picking dos Santos apart and taking him down a number of times. There was no denying that Velasquez dominated, as he landed 210 strikes and 11 takedowns on dos Santos, who had just 66 strikes land.

Those numbers were even more lopsided in the opening five minutes, as Velasquez hit on 64 of 115 strikes and three takedowns. Dos Santos had just 17 of his strikes land, an extremely low number for the man many consider the best boxer in the heavyweight division.

Velasquez was also asked his thoughts on the upcoming Alistair Overeem-Antonio Silva contest, which will likely determine his first challenger.

“Whoever wins that fight, I have to step up,” Velasquez said. “That’s what it comes down to.”
