UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez quickly shot down any thoughts about a potential match with AKA teammate Daniel Cormier on the UFC 155 post-fight show on Fuel TV.
“I wouldn’t (fight Cormier),” Velasquez said. “This is my friend, my teammate, my coach. If you want this fight, go to AKA. We’re going to fight for free (every week in training).”
Cormier has stated the same several times since it was made public that he would be coming over to the UFC after Zuffa purchased Strikeforce. Cormier, a former Olympian, will make his final appearance for the promotion in January.
Cormier said that Velasquez will be making him do something he hasn’t for a while: lose weight. While not officially stating it, it appears “DC” is headed for the light heavyweight division.
