Junior Dos Santos Vows To Return Stronger After Loss To Cain Velasquez

There is no questioning the heart of former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos.

After eating 64 strikes from Cain Velasquez in the first round, dos Santos never quit, going the distance Saturday night at UFC 155.

Velasquez was declared the victory, but dos Santos promised the new champion he would return soon.

“Cain Velasquez, like you said, I’m going to come back and take my belt again,” dos Santos said.

Dos Santos (15-2) was dealt his first UFC defeat, as he was taken down 11 times by Velasquez (11-1), who also held a 210-66 advantage in total strikes landed.

“His game was very effective,” dos Santos said. “Tonight, he was better than me. His takedowns, his grappler game; they were very effective.”
