Nick Diaz Hasn’t Checked In With UFC, But Dana White Doesn’t Expect Another No-Show

Nick Diaz lost his chance at the UFC welterweight title last year after no-showing several press events.

Following UFC 155, UFC president Dana White was asked if there has been any trouble with Diaz as we begin the road to UFC 158 and a battle between Georges St-Pierre and the former Strikeforce champion.

Nick Diaz hasn’t returned my calls, texts, nothing. It’s Nick Diaz. You don’t have to call me. You don’t have to text me. But you do have to show up for the press conferences. I’d be blown away if he didn’t do it. This is a fight that he wanted and Georges St-Pierre called him out. He’s getting it, so yes, I expect Diaz to do it.

GSP asked the UFC to give him Diaz instead of a fight with Johny Hendricks because of all the bad blood that boiled over when the bout was first announced. Diaz was replaced by Carlos Condit, but St-Pierre then removed himself with a knee injury.

The UFC re-booked GSP-Diaz, but the champion went down again with an injury. Diaz fought Condit for the interim title, was defeated, and failed his post-fight drug test.
