Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney informed BloodyElbow.com that Paul Daley has not been given permission to fight outside the promotion yet.
Daley, who is dealing with visa issues in his quest to enter the U.S. and fight in 2013, has booked a match for later this year. Rebney, however, is putting a hold on it taking place for now.
“For the time being, nothing has been approved. If the process that we’ve laid out is followed, I think a fight for him could occur, but until that happens he’s in a hold mode and we’ll see what happens.”
It had appeared as though Daley and Bellator had worked everything out, as “Semtex” recently said he was clear to fight.
Daley (30-12-2) asked for – and was granted – his release from Strikeforce last year so that he would be free to compete more often. He was released by the UFC after a sucker-punch to Josh Koscheck.
