Donald Cerrone has never turned down a fight.
Cerrone, who is a teammate of UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones at Jackson MMA in New Mexico, asked “Bones” exactly what led him to turning down a bout with Chael Sonnen last year. “Cowboy” discussed the incident during a recent fan Q&A.
“(Jones) goes, ‘Well, you don’t make a million (dollars) to fight,’” Cerrone said. “And I said, ‘Well, you’re right, but I (expletive) fight every time with all my heart.”
Cerrone (19-4-1) said he would have taken any fight offered by the UFC because “that’s our job. I don’t think you should curl up and find a way out.”
Cerrone will have an opportunity to inch closer to a UFC lightweight title shot when he faces Anthony Pettis (15-2) later this month at UFC on Fox 6.
