Alistair Overeem was granted his fight license by the Nevada Athletic Commission, putting him on track to meet Antonio Silva next month at UFC 156.
Overeem was suspended for nine months early in 2012 for a failed pre-fight drug test after he had elevated levels of testosterone in his system. Overeem, a former Strikeforce heavyweight champion, was expected to meet Junior dos Santos before the failed test.
Now, with a win over Silva on February 2, Overeem will likely meet Cain Velasquez for the belt in 2013.
The commission confirmed that Overeem passed several tests, including ones in November and December. His license was approved unanimously.
