Jose Aldo Is As Dynamic A Striker As Anderson Silva, According To Frankie Edgar

Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar has felt the striking of BJ Penn, Gray Maynard and Benson Henderson.

But, in his next bout, Edgar will likely be competing against another breed of fighter in Jose Aldo.

The two meet in the main event of UFC 156 for Aldo’s UFC featherweight championship. The match takes place February 2 from Las Vegas.

Aldo, who is just 26 years old, owns a 21-1 record – including 13 knockout victories. In his last match, he dealt Chad Mendes his first career defeat with a nasty knee as the clock expired in the first round.

“He’s a great striker, fast and explosive,” said Edgar, during a recent interview with Las Vegas Weekly. “He’s got great knees and great kicks. He might be the most dynamic striker we have in the sport – right there next to Anderson Silva.”

Edgar (14-3-1) is coming off a pair of defeats to Henderson, prompting the move to featherweight. Prior to the losses, “The Answer” had been unbeaten in seven fights.
