UFC president Dana White tends to try and pump the opinion up on his product.
However, there is no denying that White has always been quick to make changes when they are needed.
After The Ultimate Fighter debuted on FX to lower-than-expected ratings, the UFC dropped the live format and returned to the previous way of taping the tournament ahead of time.
Now, following another season that suffered on Friday nights, TUF will move to Tuesdays beginning January 22. UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen serve as coaches, and White wants everyone to know this season will be one to remember.
“There’ll definitely be more than two guys from this group signed to the UFC,” said White, during a recent interview with the LA Times. “There’s a bunch of beasts in here. We could have a champion here.”
During the latest finale show for TUF, only the finalists – Colton Smith and Mike Ricci – performed. Two more fighters who advanced to the semifinals and will compete later this year.
Chuck Saftler, the executive vice president at FX, stated, “This is going to be an amazing rookie class for the UFC.”
