UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson and Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez appear headed for a collision.
According to MMAFighting.com, the two 155-pounders would meet in the main event of UFC on Fox 7. The card takes place April 20, and is expected to emulate from San Jose’s HP Pavilion.
Henderson (18-2) recently defeated Nate Diaz, who trains with Melendez at Cesar Gracie’s gym in California. “Bendo” also topped Frankie Edgar twice in 2012.
Melendez (21-2) is finally UFC-bound after dominating in Strikeforce for several years. He defeated Josh Thomson earlier this year, but was knocked out of a pair of title fights with Pat Healy due to a shoulder injury.
