Wanderlei Silva has no love-lost for Chael Sonnen, and was likely just as excited as Anderson Silva when Sonnen was defeated in 2012 by “The Spider.”
Now, Sonnen has a UFC light heavyweight championship match on the horizon with Jon Jones, and Wanderlei Silva sees no way Sonnen can pull out the victory.
“Jones will swallow Sonnen,” said Silva, during a recent interview with Sherdog. “I spoke with Jones and told him that he can win the fight only with jabs. With one hand tied behind his back.”
Jones is seeking a record-tying fifth successful defense of his title when he faces Sonnen. “Bones” would tie a mark set by Tito Ortiz, as he has already defeated Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans and Vitor Belfort since winning the belt.
So, is there anyone “The Axe Murderer” believes can handle Jones inside the Octagon?
“The only person who can beat Jones today is Anderson.” said Silva, who returns to action in March against Brian Stann at UFC on Fuel TV 8.
