Nick Newell, Undefeated One-Arm Fighter, Makes Plea For UFC Shot

Nick Newell is the current XFC lightweight champion, having won each of his nine professional MMA fights.

While that may be enough to get most fighters a look by the UFC, it isn’t for Newell – and he believes that is because he has just one arm.

Newell’s left hand ends just past his elbow, as it was amputated during birth. The 26-year-old owns six submission victories to his credit, and two more knockout wins.

“[White] wants to talk about how he wants to give people equal opportunity – to women, to gay fighters and stuff like that,” said Newell, during a recent appearance on The MMA Hour. “Well, I’d like my equal opportunity as well.”

Newell knows that most undefeated champions in regional promotions are being looked at hard by the UFC, adding, “anyone else with my track record would be getting looked at, but it’s due to outside circumstances.”

Yea. You only have one arm. How are you going to fare against a legit NCAA or Olympic wrestler if you only have one arm? It’s nothing personal. It’s just that signing you to the UFC’s deepest division is a huge waste of time. There isn’t enough room for all the people on the lightweight roster as it is.

    Sure, why not.

This is the marketable fight flamderson shmilva has been waiting for.

Or make Jon Jones fight him after sonnen.

He can co-headline with rousy vs kim kardashian.
