‘Rampage’ Jackson: Dana White’s Comments Sent Message He Wanted Out Of UFC

UFC president Dana White has never been one to tip-toe around a subject, and that includes former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

When Jackson decided to take time off from fighting to film a movie, White was very critical.

When Jackson failed to make weight for a bout with Ryan Bader, and was defeated by Bader, White again said what was on his mind.

That, apparently, still does not sit well with Jackson, who faces Glover Teixeira next Saturday night. “Rampage” recently told ESPN that White’s comments were what led him to want out of the UFC.

Dana said my head wasn’t into the fight and he talked some shit about me even though he knew I had the injury. They’d helped me with the injury. That was the last straw for me.

Jackson (32-10) underwent knee surgery after losing to Bader. He was forced to miss much of 2012 with injuries, including a previously-scheduled encounter with Teixeira.

The upcoming fight will be the final one on Jackson’s UFC contract, and he has made it very clear that he plans to test himself as a free agent after the match.
