UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo is 100-percent focused on the task at hand.
Aldo will meet Frankie Edgar, a former UFC lightweight champion, in the main event of UFC 156 on February 2.
While Edgar finally decided to listen to everyone and move down to 145 pounds, Aldo has continued to hear about his “future” at a heavier weight. The 26-year-old Brazilian knows he will likely have to bump up down the road, but he isn’t concerned with that right now.
“My focus is on the fight (with Edgar). I am not thinking about the future. I am 100-percent focused on the fight. Once that happens, we will sit back and think about the next steps.”
Aldo (21-1) has successfully defeated Mark Hominick, Kenny Florian and Chad Mendes since joining the UFC from the WEC. He has not lost since 2005, a string of 14 straight fights.
