UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is one of the most well-known MMA fighters in the world.
When he competes in his native country of Brazil, though, the numbers generated by the UFC are through the roof.
Ed Soares, the long-time manager for Silva, believes if Chris Weidman wants a shot at “The Spider,” the match should be made in Brazil.
“Anderson has told me that he really wants to fight in Brazil again,” said Soares, in a Brazilian blog. “Weidman himself once told me that this fight would be interesting to do there. So, I think that’s what should happen.”
Soares again stated that Weidman doesn’t deserve a championship match yet, adding, “Anderson has more title defenses than he has fights as a professional.”
The UFC has not confirmed any future events in Brazil, but the promotion will likely return there this summer. Another season of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil is set to start later in 2013, with the finale to go down from the country.
