Marcos Galvao and Eduardo Dantas are teammates in Brazil at the Nova Uniao gym.
This coming Thursday night, however, they will be opponents, as Galvao seeks the Bellator bantamweight title from Dantas in the main event of Bellator 89 on Spike TV.
Regardless of Dantas being a teammate or not, Galvao is focused on starting his career over – with a big, shiny, gold belt to boot.
“It’s hard not to be motivated,” said Galvao, during a recent interview with FightLine.com. “A title-bout was supposed to happen last year, but I was basically robbed of a couple of decisions. I was expected to fight for the belt before, when Zach Makovsky had the championship, so now I feel my career is starting new.”
The 30-year-old is 13-5-1 in his career, including wins in each of his last three fights. Galvao captured the season six tourney title, and reached the finals of the season five event.
