Cain Velasquez-Antonio Silva, Junior Dos Santos-Alistair Overeem On For UFC 160

UFC 160 just got super-sized, as a pair of heavyweight bouts have been made official.

In the main event, Cain Velasquez will put his UFC heavyweight title on the line against Antonio Silva. The event goes down Memorial Day weekend in May from Las Vegas.

Also, as reported by UFC Tonight Tuesday, Junior dos Santos and Alistair Overeem will collide. Both bouts were rumored for the card in the past few days.

Velasquez, who defeated dos Santos this past December, stopped Silva last May to secure his rematch with “Cigano.”

Silva worked his way past Overeem, dos Santos and the rest of the heavyweight division by defeating Overeem earlier this month.

Dos Santos and Overeem were scheduled to meet last year in May, but the former Strikeforce champion failed a pre-fight drug test. The two have engaged in several verbal battles, and the winner will likely position themselves for a future title match.

Seriously don’t know why they are putting him up against Silva again, he DESTROYED him in their first bout and I predict not much has changed since then.

As usual per dana and joe’s shitty matchmaking these days,
they’re just going to throw a guy under a bus while he’s still fresh in casual dude-bro’s memories to try and get a bump in ratings instead of moving the whole division forward with any logical method

And this is the same way they have repeatadly painted every division into avoidable corners and made the ufc a borderline joke

I say borderline because Reem/Dos makes sense

But for every obvious to make fight they do that makes sense,
they’ll make a dumb and even absurd title fight to drag the sport back through the mire

Velasquez will run through Silva. Stoppage in 3rd or 4th. Dos Santos will knock out Overeem in either 2nd or 3rd. I guess I wouldn’t get much of a return placing a wager!
