Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar believes he is the perfect fighter to provide the top prospects in the featherweight division with a true test.
After failing to secure the 145-pound belt from Jose Aldo earlier this month, Edgar is setting his sights on Cub Swanson.
Swanson scored an impressive fourth straight victory by defeating Dustin Poirier recently. He is 19-5 in his career and unbeaten since 2011.
On UFC Tonight earlier this week, it was reported that Edgar (15-4-1) wishes to face Swanson in a five-round main event on either an FX or FUEL TV card. “The Answer” also stated he would be willing to meet him at UFC 160 on Memorial Day weekend in May if a spot is available.
Good for Edgar to remain strong in the featherweight division and try to help make bigger stars out of fighters like Swanson. This is a match I am interested in seeing, as Swanson has been inside the cage with some big-time fighters, but maybe none with the resume of an Edgar.
