Liz Carmouche knows she has an excellent opportunity ahead of her Saturday night when she steps inside the Octagon against Ronda Rousey.
Competing in a main event of a pay-per-view, Carmouche feels the eventual payday will help provide her a solid base to become an even more involved fighter. The two will compete at UFC 157 from Anaheim.
“I really do hope that this puts me on a different financial level,” said Carmouche, during a recent interview with FightLine.com. “I know that is Dana White’s plan for all of his UFC fighters, so they can focus on fighting and it’s not a concern for them.”
Carmouche (8-2) is a major underdog to the unbeaten Rousey, but she is well-trained and well-focused, being a former member of the military.
Her story on UFC Primetime made a fan out of me, as Carmouche has battled naysayers her entire life. Now, she has a chance to prove them all wrong on the biggest stage ever for women’s MMA.
“Nobody has any expectations (for me in this fight). I really feel that the pressure is all on Ronda,” Carmouche said. “Anything I do is just going to blow everyone away.”
