UFC Female Division Has 10 Fighters, Says UFC Boss

UFC president Dana White made it known that a total of 10 fighters have been signed to the UFC’s female bantamweight division, and that five more are expected in the coming future.

However, White declined to name the four unknown fighters who are signed during a Q&A session with fans on Friday.

UFC 157 takes place this evening from Anaheim and will feature the first-ever female fight within the Octagon as Ronda Rousey defends her title against Liz Carmouche.

“The 135-pound division is stacked with talent. We already signed 10 girls. We’re signing five more (soon),” White said. “Over the next year, we’re gonna be building this 135-pound division. I’m gonna have 15 fighters in here that we need to introduce to the world.”

The second UFC female fight takes place later this year when Miesha Tate battles Cat Zingano. Sara McMann and Alexis Davis were also recently confirmed for the UFC roster, but have yet to have matches announced.

One would have to believe the majority of the “unnamed” fighters will come from Invicta Fighting Championships. The all-female promotion has a card scheduled for early in April, which could lead to the announcing of the new UFC fighters soon after.
