Ronda Rousey: ‘No Amount Of Press Can Save These Girls From Me’

UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey survived the biggest challenge of her career to date, and made sure to let the rest of the female division know she is atop the pack.

Rousey scored her seventh armbar victory in the first round over Liz Carmouche Saturday at UFC 157, but had to fight off an early submission attempt by the challenger.

The former Olympic medalist in judo didn’t hold back during the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, either, when asked if the amount of press and media obligations she did prior to the fight had any impact on her focus.

It was different, but there is no amount of press that can save these girls from me.

Rousey, who wore UFC-sponsored gear along with the rest of her corner, was caught with Carmouche (7-3) on her back and working for either a rear-naked choke or a neck crank. She was able to shake her off, and waited for the right opening to lock in an armbar. That came with just 11 seconds left in the first round.

In MMA, I’ve had to learn to be patient and take my time. “I was just trying to do it perfectly on the first try.
