UFC Boss On Recent Series Of Releases: ‘The Blood Has Not All Been Spilled Yet’

Jon Fitch’s surprise release from the UFC caught the attention of social media, and UFC president Dana White was attacked through the various outlets.

During the pre-fight press conference for UFC 157 earlier this week, the UFC boss made it known that more cuts are coming.

We have 470-something guys under contract. We have over 100 guys too many on the roster right now. The blood has not all been spilled yet.

Harsh words from the man in charge of the biggest MMA promotion in the world.

You have to consider everyone not wearing a title belt, being though of as a contender in the near future, or in good standing with the UFC as potential release victims.

If someone like Fitch, who competed for the title and won over a dozen bouts inside the Octagon, can be released, any fighter with a string of defeats should be looking over his shoulder.

This just goes to show that the UFC is no longer a sport. It no longer matters who the best fighter is. It’s about which fights can make the most money. Sometimes those two are the same thing, sometimes they are not. I still like watching skilled fighters compete, but I’m not sure how much longer I can lend my support. I do not like Jon Fitch and I never have. But he didn’t deserve to be let go, based on the fact that he’s one of the most successful fighters the UFC has ever had. I think he needed another decisive loss before letting him go, but what do I know?

after he said this and many fans asked about Leonard Garcia and of course there is always a bunch of fans that bring up Dan Hardy who himself admitted he would of cut himself before Jon Fitch- But Hardy does fight with more excitement and may be a better draw for fans from UK or not. He said lately that he is thinking of retiring so he can atleast leave this roster in some good manner? But yeah now look at Josh Koscheck who also fought for the belt and had some tough scraps with many a good fighters who hey some won and some he beat. He has cred with the UFC and is a huge seller for him by being there when it really turned around the corner and picked up steam and he on TUF 1 who blossomed inside the octagon into todays age of a full well rounded mix martial artist. Now under the logic given by Dana White on why Fitch was let go by going from the # 1 guy who lost to GSP but beat everyone else just about, to the # 2 ,3,4,5.6.7 and down the line or latter of top Welterweights who are ranked by the writers and UFC rankings. Now Jon Fitch is a different style than Josh Koscheck so where does Dana go on comparing them there? Koscheck has lost some recently and now could be considered to be right there where Fitch was by having your titleshot and losing to GSP then eventually losing to younger fighters or just as good skilled fighters until someone ranks you as being not so top 5 anymore or not even in the top ten in their rankings. But these rankings should be more about wins and losses trumping big names . The main point is to find out where everyone sits and who is winning more and proving themselves to be ready to face the Champion. And sometimes new challengers are pushed up past old challengers who had a shot but lost ? so what in mma anything can happen and at this high level in the UFC toughest stacked divisions I bet Jon Fitch or Josh Koscheck could still shock the world by some how some way doing what they failed to do against champ GSP or if Nick Diaz wins then great they have never faced him. my point is I don’t know if fitch was fallen and never would be back to the success he once had and same with Koscheck who knows what he is going thru but as a fan I hope he finds himself and does good in life and in mma cuz I enjoy watching all these fights and appreciate the effort and hard work they put in to even make it to the cage to fight. so thank you ufc fighters and if you get cut well just go win somewhere else and make Joe Silva admit he was wrong and has a little man complex that affects his mental functions sometimes.
