Rashad Evans Vows To Return After UFC 156 Loss

Rashad Evans has experienced two straight losses for the first time in his career, but the former UFC light heavyweight champion isn’t planning on leaving the sport anytime soon.

Evans, who was defeated by Antonio Rogerio Nogueira earlier this month, was part of the FUEL TV weigh-in show for UFC 157 Friday, and made sure to let everyone know his future intentions.

“I’m going to be back,” Evans stated.

He went on to explain what went wrong in the Nogueira fight, citing a lack of mental focus as the main culprit.

“It was a hard fight for me, one that I lost. It was a mental fight for me. I had a great training camp, but no matter how are you are, it happens and you have to make sure you are ready to fight on all levels.”

Evans was returning to the Octagon for the first time since early in 2012 when he lost to Jon Jones in a match for the UFC 205-pound title. His only other career defeat came at the hands of Lyoto Machida.

The former Ultimate Fighter winner is now a ways down the ladder in terms of competing for the title again at light heavyweight, so I’d really like to see him make a run in middleweight. He’d need to focus a lot on the weight cut, but I feel he could eventually pose a challenge at 185 pounds.

During the post-fight show on FUEL TV made it known that he is interested in matching up with fellow ex-champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and I have to say, that is a fight that interests me.
