Dustin Poirier believes he needs some extended gym minutes going forward to better prepare himself for a run at the UFC featherweight title.
Following a recent loss to Cub Swanson, Poirier stated on Twitter his plans to take an extended absence from competing and re-invent his game.
I’m taking some time off to round out my game. Ill be back later this year in the winners circle, better than ever!! That’s my word

Poirier, who was on the cusp of competing for the title before a loss last year to Chan Sung Jung, added, “Gonna rededicate myself to the sport I love.”
The 24-year-old moved to Florida and joined up with American Top Team prior to a December win over Jonathan Brookins. He is 13-3 in his career.
