An injury to Daniel Straus has allowed Shahbulat Shamhalaev to cash in his Bellator MMA featherweight title shot early.
Shamhalaev will now face Bellator champion Pat Curran in the main event of Bellator 95, which takes place April 5. Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney confirmed the fight change on Wednesday.
Straus was forced out after suffering a broken hand.
Shamhalaev will be returning to the cage just 42 days after defeating Rad Martinez in the finals of their delayed tournament bout. He is 12-1-1 in his career and 3-0 in Bellator.
Curran (18-4) has won eight of his nine Bellator fights, including a recent split decision over Patricio Freire.
