A quad injury suffered in training is to blame for postponing the planned Alistair Overeem vs. Junior dos Santos heavyweight bout at UFC 160.
UFC president Dana White has said the plan is to have the two meet later in the year, after Overeem has recovered from the injury.
“Injured! Caught a slight tear in my quad so unfortunately out of May 25’s UFC,” Overeem posted on Twitter. “Not happy to let you guys down!”
Both fighters are coming off losses, as “The Reem” was stopped by Antonio Silva. Dos Santos lost his UFC heavyweight title to Cain Velasquez, who will defend the belt vs. Silva on the May card from Las Vegas.
