UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will likely go down in history as one of the greatest to ever step into the Octagon.
That legacy can only gain levels from here on out, starting next Saturday at UFC 158 with Nick Diaz.
While many are already looking past GSP-Diaz and to a potential super-fight with Anderson Silva, “Rush” isn’t one of them, as he stated during a recent conference call.
“I want the big fight, but the big fight for me right now is Nick Diaz. I don’t look past Nick Diaz. All of my focus is on him,” St-Pierre said. “I don’t care about what is coming next. For me, my life ends March 16 when I fight Nick Diaz.”
For now, Silva is also lined up, as he will face Chris Weidman later this year. Rumors of a Silva-Jon Jones fight being of more interest is also out there.
“It’s going to be another chapter in my career (facing Diaz),” he said. “After is what is going to happen after, but now, I’m only focusing on what is going to happen next.”
