Jon Fitch Felt Like The UFC Never Really Wanted Him

Jon Fitch believes he was never fully invested by the UFC, and that the promotion jumped at the first opportunity to release him.

Fitch, a former No. 1 contender to the UFC welterweight title, has signed with World Series of Fighting and is expected to debut with the promotion later this year in the main event.

During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Fitch disclosed his feelings towards his ex-promotion.

I never really felt comfortable or wanted there. It was just an overall feeling. I never felt like I got a lot of attention that other people did that were doing the same thing as me.

Fitch was widely-criticized by both MMA fans and UFC officials for his style of attack – but there was no denying his success. Fitch went 14-3-1 in his Octagon career, including a decision loss to Georges St-Pierre in a world title match.

For now, he is happy to be heading to the WSOF, saying, “The important thing is that I am going to be with an organization now that I really feel we’re going to get a chance to do something big.”
