Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos will not be fighting Alistair Overeem in May. Instead, he’ll meet Mark Hunt after an injury forced Overeem out.
However, that doesn’t mean “Cigano” is letting Overeem off the hook completely.
“I think this guy is a joke,” said dos Santos, during an interview with Brazil’s Mundo da Luta TV. “He’s a big man when he’s pumped up from taking ‘the bomb’ for the fight, and is talking a lot of nonsense. I have nothing to do with him.”
Dos Santos and the ex-Strikeforce champion were expected to square off last year, but Overeem failed a pre-fight drug test. Both are coming off losses, so the pairing seemed to make sense.
Overeem, though, suffered a quad injury and Hunt has agreed to step in and face dos Santos in May at UFC 160.
