Frankie Edgar Content With Competing At Featherweight

Frankie Edgar isn’t saying he will end his career as a featherweight. But, for the time being, he appears content to be competing at 145 pounds.

Edgar, a former UFC lightweight champion, was hoping to return to action soon against Cub Swanson. Swanson, though, was forced to decline the fight, citing an injury suffered in his most recent victory.

So, for now, “The Answer” will wait to see what the UFC has to offer – but it will come at 145 pounds.

“I’m going to stick around at 145 for now,” said Edgar, who is coming off a loss to Jose Aldo for the title, during a recent interview with MMAFighting.com. “I wouldn’t say I’m done (with lightweight), I don’t want to close the book on it. But right now, I’m sticking around. I am going to work my way back to the title.”

Edgar has lost his last three fights – all of which have been championship matches. He was defeated twice by Benson Henderson in 2012, with both going to the scorecards.

Do those losses still bother Edgar? Of course, but he isn’t about to let it keep him down.

“I’m as over it as much as I can be, obviously I’m upset I didn’t get the win, but what are we going to do? Back to the drawing board I guess we go,” said Edgar. “I think I can always do better, but I was happy with my performance. I was more than prepared, everybody in my corner was prepared.”
