Vitor Belfort has been pushed under the microscope since 2013 started, as he was granted an exemption to use TRT prior to facing Michael Bisping.
Now, as his bout with Luke Rockhold approaches, the former UFC champion is fielding questions left and right concerning his use of TRT as a former fighter who failed a drug test for steroids.
“The UFC always knew that I use, do not do it to cheat,” said Belfort, in an interview with Tatame recently. “I have medical monitoring and UFC also accompanies it. Never broken through anything, always acted cleanly. Do blood tests every week to equal the testosterone levels of a person my age.”
Belfort will meet Rockhold at UFC on FX 8 on May 18 from Brazil. The Brazilian MMA commission stated the fighter will be granted a TUE for the bout again.
“Many people are averse to treatment. I do not,” Belfort added. “I am in favor of people being open and fair in what they are doing.”
Belfort’s previous use of illegal steroids makes it very difficult for me to believe he isn’t taking advantage of the exemptions. But, unless a commission denies him, why would he not use it to his advantage?
