Miesha Tate Not Looking Past Cat Zingano

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

For Miesha Tate, Cat Zingano is the first step towards another shot at Ronda Rousey.

However, don’t for a second think that Tate is looking past Zingano. The two will meet later this month at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale.

“Right now, I’m really doing my very best not to look past Cat Zingano. I don’t really consider myself in the UFC until I get that first UFC victory. I don’t even think about coaching the next season of The Ultimate Fighter because I have to get past Point A to get to Point B. I’m just trying to stay focused on Cat, and I think I’m doing a good job with that,” said Tate, in a recent interview with Bloody Elbow. “That being said, I love MMA. I really do. I’ve been doing this for six and a half years, going on seven years, and I feel like I represent the sport well. I’m passionate about it. I’m obviously very happy about being somewhat of a pioneer and a role model. I welcome that because it makes me feel good about what I’m doing both inside and outside the cage. I think I’m ready for it.”

Tate (13-3) closed out her Strikeforce run with a submission victory over Julie Kedzie last year. She is now 7-1 in her last eight, including four submission victories.

What match would you prefer to see? Tate vs. Rousey or Zingano vs. Rousey?
