The UFC has levied their punishment on Nate Diaz, suspending the former No. 1 contender 90 days and fining him $20,000 for the derogatory comments he made towards Bryan Caraway last week.
Diaz lashed out on Twitter in regards to Caraway’s statements concerning Pat Healy and the use of marijuana by fighters. Caraway earned Healy’s “fight-night bonus” of $65,000 when the fighter failed his post-fight drug test.
“The language used in his tweet was regrettable, offensive and inconsistent with the values and culture of the organization, and is not tolerated,” a statement by the UFC read.
Diaz will be eligible to return in August. It remains to be seen when the UFC will – or if they will – sign the fighter to a future bout.
